Starting a business is an ego death for designers

When you’re employed, it’s easy to blame PMs who “don’t listen to designers”, the company for not being “design-driven”, and executives for not giving you a seat at the table. When you start a business, all of that disappears. All these obstacles, real or imaginary, are gone. You probably think this is when you finally feel unchained and reach the design nirvana.
